On the road again.

Up early as the roadhouse had a generator the size of a town hall that was never turned off - very loud!
Another day of long straight driving. We had a break in Port Hedland, really enjoyed a visit to the museum, and settled finally in Roebourne for three days - good base to check out Dampier and Karratha.

This year more than in the past (possible because we have spent more time on the coast) I have begun to observe the caravan park culture.

There are always the ladies who are up before daylight and have their clothes on the lines.

They are usually married to the blokes who spend hours washing their cars and vans with a bucket.

At about 5:30PM you start to notice couples holding a wine glass in one hand and a fold up chair in the other heading for drinks somewhere.

They are all in their vans watching TV however as soon as it gets dark.

You also become aware of sandwich boards outside vans advertising trades and crafts. John and I have both had our first campground haircut! Sitting in an annex at 35degrees under a plastic cloak was a test of endurance to say the least.

Entertainment however is a major facet of van life. We have been invited to a number of country and western performances. The average age of the performers is usually 65 plus and the cost is generally to buy their CD. The "Chainsaws" were in the park at Mt Isa and the name of the chap in  Roebourne has slipped my mind.
I did convince my friend to come down and at least have a look at the barbie and concert - from the safety of the dark.
