Driving south from Broome meant miles of straight roads. Because the area had had a large dump of rain in the previous month the country was quite lush and green instead of desert.
We decided to camp at the back of Sandfire Roadhouse and drove into Eighty Mile Beach at Cape Keraudren for a sticky. We were amazed to discover several toad house infestations in the middle of nowhere!!

You could see the mozzies in swarms and not a tree anywhere.
There was no water available but there were two new toilet blocks.
There was a limit of a three month stay.
No shopping for a very long way. |
But we could understand why they were drawn to the area as the scenery was unbelievable.
